Barbara Reid holds an MA in Mindfulness Based Approaches and a PhD in social geography, and is a teacher, trainer and supervisor within the Centre. She is a module organiser and tutor on the Master’s programme, and is part of the thesis supervision team. She has been teaching 8-week courses to the general public, to groups in public services and 3rd sector organisations since 2007. Barbara previously worked in vocational degree education and applied social research in the university sector. She is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and is a facilitator for Parker J. Palmer’s U.S. based Center for Courage & Renewal. She has practiced meditation in the Vipassana and Theravada Buddhist tradition since 1998. Her research interests are in teacher formation and mindfulness pedagogy, and in qualitative and mixed methods approaches to research, including reflective practice, participatory action research, and autoethnography.
