Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist and Mindfulness Teacher & Therapist

Dr. Bill Young is a Paediatrician and Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist with 30 years clinical experience working across NHS, independent and voluntary sectors.

He has been involved in teaching mindfulness in clinical settings throughout his career and has completed parallel 4-year mindfulness teacher trainings at centres of excellence in the USA and UK. He has a Master’s Degree in Mindfulness-Based Approaches from Bangor and is a trained teacher for several other mindfulness interventions including Mindful Self-Compassion, Cultivating Emotional Balance, Interpersonal Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness in Schools, and British Wheel of Yoga.

Over the last decade, he has delivered a variety of mindfulness-based interventions for adults within NHS, academic and public settings, and for children, young people and families within clinical and educational contexts.

As an academic and applied neuroscientist, he participated in the Shamatha Project in 2007, which remains the most comprehensive study of intensive meditation to date, and more recently has undertaken research on the implementation of mindfulness-based interventions within child and adolescent mental health services in the UK.
