Byron Lee is a freelance practitioner whose varied 30 year career includes working as a nurse, counsellor, lecturer, action researcher, addiction worker, diversity trainer, coach and mindfulness teacher. He continues to apply mindfulness, compassion and contemplative practices within his work in the field of inclusion, social change and leadership, as well as continuing to support people in recovery from addiction through mindfulness. He is currently supporting the development of mindfulness based programmes for people who experience loneliness; as well as introducing collaborative and sustainable mindfulness and compassion based approaches to addressing intrapersonal, interpersonal and systemic unconscious bias.

He co-designed and facilitated the King’s Fund Compassionate Leadership though Mindfulness programme; is involved in supporting prison mindfulness through his work with the Mindful Nation initiative; and leads on training at Happy City, a project aimed at radically changing the way institutions, cities and governments engage with the things that matter most to people in their lives.
