Rachel Lilley, MPhil, Phd Cand, is both a researcher and practitioner.

Her interest is in using mindfulness and neuroscience/psychology based training to improve problems solving and decision making and support change. She has a particular interest in increasing capacities for working with complexity, including issues like climate change, health improvement and equality of opportunity.


Based in Aberystwyth University, she develops, delivers and investigates training programmes which combine embodied awareness and inquiry (mindfulness) with academic behavioural/social/psychological theory. These programmes create a different way of knowing both our minds, and the issues we are working with, which in turn changes our approach to how we see and work with others on complex issues.


Rachel is an experienced communicator, trainer and strategic thinker. Recent organisations she has worked with include: Welsh Government, Ogilvy Mather, WWF, the New Forest and Shambala Festival.  She has directed and managed large scale sustainability projects and worked as a journalist, a campaigner and in international development. She is diverse in her work, engaging both with leaders in large organisations to working with small innovative community based projects. She is informed by academic knowledge, practical delivery and her own experiences working collaboratively, and bringing up her family in a co-housing project.
