Willem Kuyken DClinPsy, PhD, is Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Oxford. His research focuses primarily on mindfulness-based approaches and how they can prevent depression and enhance human potential across the lifespan. Several studies have arisen out of this work that suggest MBCT as a treatment choice for the millions of people who suffer recurrent depression Lancet, 2015; JAMA Psychiatry, 2016), as well as a universal approach to preventing depression in adolescence (British Journal of Psychiatry, 2013). He is the Principal Investigator of several NIHR and Wellcome Trust funded projects of mindfulness and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy and Director of the Oxford Mindfulness Centre. He is also interested in the interface of ancient wisdom traditions and contemporary science, in particular the role of compassion. He co-authored Compassion in the landscape of suffering, with Christina Feldman and they are working on a book to be published in 2017 by Guildford Press
